A Personal Milestone: Reflecting on Vacu-Man’s Journey to the 2025 Consumer Choice Award

As I sit down to reflect on Vacu-Man’s recent achievement of winning the 2025 Consumer Choice Award for Duct and Furnace Cleaning in Hamilton, I can’t help but feel an overwhelming sense of pride and gratitude. This recognition is more than just a badge of honour for our business—it represents years of dedication, hard work, and the resilience of a family legacy that I have had the privilege to carry forward.

Taking over Vacu-Man from my father in 2019 was a momentous step in both mine and Michelle (my wife)  life. Growing up in the business, I witnessed first-hand the tireless efforts my father put into building the company from the ground up. He founded Vacu-Man back in 1980 with the simple goal of delivering exceptional service and improving the air quality in homes across Hamilton. What started as a small family operation handing out flyers, quickly became a trusted name in our community, thanks to his vision and commitment to excellence.

When I officially took the reins, I knew there were big shoes to fill, but I was ready. I embraced the responsibility, knowing that the values my father instilled in the company—quality, trust, and customer care—were the same principles that would guide us forward. Over the past few years, we’ve faced significant challenges, especially with the COVID-19 pandemic. But through it all, the Vacu-Man team, which I am incredibly proud of, remained resilient and focused on providing the highest standard of service to our customers. That unwavering commitment is exactly why this award feels so special.

The Consumer Choice Award isn’t something that’s handed out lightly. It’s earned. It comes from the community we serve, which makes it all the more meaningful. It reflects the trust that Hamilton’s businesses and residents have placed in us, and it stands as a testament to the quality and dedication that our team brings to every job. I am proud beyond words of our entire team, and this award is a direct reflection of their hard work and passion. They are the heartbeat of Vacu-Man, and their commitment to excellence has brought us to where we are today.

Looking back, our journey has been nothing short of remarkable. From the early days when my father and I would work side by side, to now leading this company through a period of growth and change, it’s been both challenging and rewarding. What keeps me going is knowing that we’re not just cleaning ducts and furnaces—we’re providing a service that truly impacts people’s lives by improving the air they breathe every day.

Winning this award as we celebrate 45 years of business is an emotional milestone for me. It feels like a nod to both the past and the future—a recognition of the foundation my father built and a promise that we will continue to uphold those same values for generations to come. This Consumer Choice Award represents our legacy, but it also fuels our drive to keep pushing forward, always striving to do better for our customers and our community.

As we move ahead, I am committed to ensuring that Vacu-Man remains a leader in duct and furnace cleaning in Hamilton and beyond.
