Closing the Mic (for now) on Tech Talk

Picture it: the early 2010s. Technology was exploding. Apple had just revealed a phone that didn’t need a button. Websites were morphing from static pages to living, breathing entities. And there I was, running a successful advertising agency, FPM3. We weren’t just pushing products—we were designing digital landscapes. We were the architects behind businesses’ online efficiency, taking them from “What’s an email?” to “When’s our next AI rollout?” in record time.

The Birth of Tech Talk

Then came Tech Talk. My old pal Bill Kelly, a smooth-talking morning show host on 900 CHML, handed me a golden mic and said, “Go on, tell the world what’s next.” For nearly a decade, I did just that. From the dawn of smart homes to the days when AI was something only sci-fi fans dreamed about, I shared it all. It was exhilarating. It was exhausting. And it was never dull.

The Reality of Time

But let’s be honest. Running a growing duct-cleaning empire (Vacu-Man Furnace and Duct Cleaning) and steering the Rotary Club of Hamilton doesn’t leave much downtime. And somewhere in between launching new businesses and dealing with lint, the beloved radio station shut its doors in 2024, turning Tech Talk into a wonderful memory.

Looking Ahead

Since then, technology hasn’t exactly hit pause. AI isn’t just a buzzword; it’s a co-worker. Smart gadgets have evolved from quirky to essential. If you tuned into Tech Talk years ago, today’s tech might feel like Star Trek compared to that VCR we all thought was so cool. But as much as I’d love to dive back into those thrilling on-air debates, for now, I’m signing off.

This Isn’t Goodbye

Don’t get me wrong—Tech Talk isn’t gone forever. It’s just taking a nap. Someday, when the dust settles (and the ducts are cleaned), I’ll pick up the mic again. Until then, the archive of our past episodes still lives online, waiting for anyone who wants a trip down memory lane.

So thank you to everyone who listened, laughed, and learned with me. This isn’t goodbye; it’s a see-you-soon. And if you need a refresher on what’s happening in the tech world, just keep an eye on my blog. When the time is right, Tech Talk will be back. You know where to find me.
